Carrier invented modern air conditioning in 1902 and founded the Carrier Engineering Company in 1915 which revolutionized the way we provide air conditioned solutions for business and homes. In 1979, Carrier Corporation was acquired by Connecticut-based United Technologies Corporation (NYSE: UTX), a Delaware Corporation. Today Carrier is a part of the Building & Industrial Systems unit of United Technologies, a leading provider of heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, building controls and automation, and fire and security solutions worldwide.

ComfortChoice Thermostats are designed, sold and supported by United Technologies Electronic Controls, a business unit of Carrier that supplies the electronic controls for Carrier products from gas furnaces, air conditioners, building systems, refrigeration systems and thermostats. The thermostats are manufactured in the United States at our world class manufacturing facility in Huntington, IN which employs over 650 employees.

United Technologies Electronic Controls Receives National Recognition

Huntington, Ind. -- IndustryWeek magazine today named Huntington-based UT Electronic Controls (UTEC), a unit of Carrier Corp. one of the 10 best plants in North America. Winners of the 2008 Best Plant competition are selected based on performance metrics, as well as dedication to continually improving people, processes and performance. Carrier Corp. is a unit of United Technologies Corp.

UTEC's award application detailed its accomplishments related to quality, employee involvement, customer and supplier relations, productivity, cost reductions, inventory management, responsiveness, environmental and safety performance, new product development and overall market results.

UTEC was selected for its efficient and strategic manufacturing processes that empower the plant to capitalize on leading-edge automation technology. By leveraging common processes, flexible lean manufacturing and highly trained personnel, its products exceed customer expectations.
